XIT Rooms

Description

XIT Rooms is a family-owned escape room business in Surf City on Topsail Island. Every booking is private, so a family plays only with its own group, and the indoor rooms run about 60 minutes. Zombie Experiment 2.0 asks players to finish a scientist's cure before a self-destruct countdown runs out; it takes 2 to 8 players at $30 per person, and its scares can be turned off. The Lost Treasure of Topsail sends 2 to 10 players into Blackbeard's wrecked ship to find his gold before the tide comes in, at $35 per person. The Beach Escape Series takes the game outdoors: groups pick up an iPad and a case of props, then walk to Surf City landmarks solving puzzles for about 90 minutes, with games from $25 to $28 per person for up to 12 players. Players bring their own smartphone to navigate the outdoor games. No special skills are needed, and all ages are welcome. There is no set age limit; for scarier themes, parents decide whether their kids are ready. Players can leave a room at any time. Outside knowledge is never needed, and some rooms do not allow phones, so it is best to leave them in the car or the lock box provided. Booking ahead online is recommended, especially on weekends. Birthday parties and other group celebrations can be arranged.
