W. Ross Harrell Memorial Park

W. Ross Harrell Memorial Park sits at 108 East Ashe Street in downtown Burgaw, anchored by a playground with equipment for all ages. The play structures were replaced in January 2020 with new ADA-compliant equipment installed by Barrs Recreation. Tennis courts adjoin the playground, and a covered gazebo with anchored picnic tables gives families a shaded spot for gatherings. There are no restrooms on site, but Hankins Park, diagonally across the street, has them within walking distance. The gazebo and picnic tables can be reserved for private events; as of May 2025, rental runs $15 per hour for Burgaw residents and $25 per hour for non-residents, with a 3-hour minimum and a driver's license required for address verification. Public events can use the park at no charge but need a special event permit from the town.
