The Skate Barn

Description

The Skate Barn sits off Highway 17 behind PT's Grille in Hampstead and pairs a fully enclosed indoor section surfaced entirely in Skatelite with a full concrete outdoor run. The shop calls that combination one of the few in the country to offer both surfaces, and the enclosed half makes this one of Pender County's few genuine rainy-day options.

Drop-in skating is $8 for an all-day pass. Monthly memberships run $60 for a single skater, $90 for up to three, and $125 for up to five in the same household, with additional household members at $20 each. Members skate an extended 8:00 AM to 10:00 PM daily, and paying annually includes a complimentary month. A waiver is required for anyone who skates and can be filled out online before arriving.

Programming leans toward kids and beginners. Private lessons take beginner through intermediate riders of any age. Home school sessions run two hours at $5 per person, day pass included. An after-school program serves 4th grade, 5th grade, and middle school students, with pickup from Topsail Annandale Elementary and Topsail Middle. Week-long summer camps are $400 per camper and include lunch, snacks, water, and day trips to area skate parks. A pro shop covers boards and replacement parts.
