Pogies at the Farm

Description

Pogies at the Farm is a working local farm at 117 Williams Farm Road in Maysville, between New Bern, Jacksonville and Emerald Isle, that opens to visitors on weekends from March through December. There is no entry fee to shop or to visit the animals from the outside. The petting farm is free to view and features heritage farm animals; cups of animal treats for feeding them from outside cost $2, and going in with the goats costs $10 per group. A forested 1.5-mile loop trail is free to walk or run, with dog-friendly loops of about 1 to 1.5 miles. The kids' area has a mud kitchen, a chalk zone, a build zone and swings. Families can bring a picnic or buy food from the food trucks that set up from noon to sunset, and hand-scooped ice cream is sold on site. The Barn Market sells produce, meats, eggs, baked goods and canned goods, and take-home kits are available for planting flowers or vegetables or building a birdhouse. Wildlife viewing towers that hold a family of four to six can be booked ahead.
