Moores Creek National Battlefield

Description

Moores Creek National Battlefield commemorates the site of the first decisive Patriot victory in the American Revolution, which took place on February 27, 1776. This 88-acre National Park Service site offers families an educational journey through Revolutionary War history via a visitor center with exhibits, artifacts, and an introductory film. The park features a 1-mile walking trail with wayside exhibits that leads through the battlefield and across Moores Creek on a reconstructed bridge. Families can explore remnants of the original 1776 road, see cannon positions and militia earthworks, and learn about this pivotal battle that helped North Carolina become the first colony to vote for independence. The park also offers picnic areas and is part of the NC Birding Trail.
