Missiles and More Museum

Description

The Missiles and More Museum showcases the fascinating history of Topsail Island through engaging exhibits housed in the historic Assembly Building from 1946. Visitors discover Operation Bumblebee, the secret U.S. Navy guided missile testing program that operated on the island from 1946-1948, helping pave the way for America's space program. The museum features exhibits on Women Airforce Service Pilots (WASPs), North Carolina pirates including Blackbeard, Native American artifacts, and the island's natural history. Families can explore over 10,000 shells from around the world, learn about the barrier island's formation, and view historical artifacts that tell the story of this unique coastal community.
