Kenneth D. Batts Family Park sits on the sound side of Topsail Island along S. Topsail Drive in Surf City. The park's centerpiece is a 920-foot boardwalk that extends over the marsh, offering views of the Intracoastal Waterway and coastal wetlands — a good spot to watch egrets, herons, and other shore birds. Amenities include a playground with slides and climbing equipment, a basketball court, a covered picnic shelter, restrooms, and a Little Free Library stocked with books for kids. Public parking is available on site. The park opens daily at 6:00 AM and is free to the public. Because of its location on the island, it pairs well with a beach day — families can split time between the ocean and the calmer sound-side setting.
