Earl G. & Inez Batts Recreation Complex

Description

Opened in October 2024, this 45-acre recreation complex sits adjacent to the Surf City Community Center and represents the most significant new park addition to Pender County in years. Phase I includes a professionally designed skatepark with pump track, an inclusive playground built for children of all abilities, two sand volleyball courts, a nine-hole disc golf course, a covered picnic shelter with restrooms, and walking paths that connect to the existing trail network. The skatepark was designed by Artisan Skateparks and caters to riders of all skill levels from beginners to experienced. The complex was named in honor of the Batts family, from whom the land was acquired in 2020. Parking is available on site, and the facility is free to the public. Additional phases are planned for the remaining acreage.
