Core Sound Waterfowl Museum & Heritage Center

Description

The Core Sound Waterfowl Museum & Heritage Center sits at the eastern end of Harkers Island, next to the Cape Lookout visitor center, celebrating the heritage and traditions of the Core Sound region. Families can explore touchable community exhibits, watch decoy-carving demonstrations, and see quilting displays. The center runs kids programming, summer camps, school field trips, and hands-on STEM education, and has a gift shop stocked with local art and goods. Outdoor experiences round out the visit, and seasonal events include holiday displays. Paired with the neighboring national seashore visitor center, it makes a strong half-day cultural and educational stop in Down East Carteret County. Contact the museum for current hours and admission.
